I am using canopus procoder v2.0 and when converting movie files to VOB files, it randomly shuts the computer off without warning after about 20-30mins of converting. I thought it might have been a virus on the pc because it started about 6 months after i first started using the program, so IO re-formatted my pc, and install procoder 2.0 again, but I am having the same problem, does anyone have any idea why this is happening and how I can fix the problem? Thanks in advance
Does it do this with all Files or just some Files??? does it do this when you encode to a Mpeg-2 File as opposed to a "Video_TS" Folder?? If it works when encodeing to Mpeg-2 but not to Video_TS/Vob then you can allways just use a DVD authoring program to put the Mpeg-2 on to DVD.... also there are a few different versions of Canopus Procoder v2.0 Like version 2.01 and 2.03 and 2.04 so maybe try a different version of the program and maybe you will get better results.... Also there are other encoders you can use...If you are Doing a Pal/NTSC Conversion then procoder is the best but if you are Not doing a pal/NTSC Conversion then you can get just as Good results useing an encoder Like the "Mainconcept Encoder" or "CinemaCraft Encoder SP" or even "Tmpgenc Pluss"..... If you know how to use AVISynth then you can do the best Pal/NTSC conversions useing allmost any encoder but CCE is Probably best but AVISynth is Pretty hard To learn..... Cheers PS: Have you also Considered that maybe your PC shuts down after 30 minutes of Encodeing because maybe your CPU Is Over heating?? Cuz encodeing is very CPU intensive and if your CPU is overheating when encodeing it will shut down....You should maybe get a temperature Monitoring program to Monitor the Temperature of your CPU when it shuts down...You should maybe Open up your PC case and clean it out , especially if you haven"t cleaned out your PC in a While because Dust will Build up on the Fans and other components affecting there cooling performance...You should Open up your PC every 6 Months at least to clean out all of the Dust that collects as too much dust will drasticly shorten the life of your PC....
Well,I thought that it might have been when im converting the movie to vob files, so instead I tried converting it to VCD files, because that uses quite a bit less CPU power, but it still shut down around 30 minutes. Wouldnt you need some sort of hardware to monitor the temperature, or has it got a built-in thermometer? Where could I get a temperature monitor from? Free is possible. I will open it up soon and give it a clean out, and see how it works then. And also, I checked what version I have, and I'm currently using version 2.04.200. Thanks
Your PC will use the same ammount of CPU power when encodeing to DVD or VCD it will just encode to VCD Faster because of the Lower resolution but it would still use 100% CPU utilization no matter what it is encodeing to.... Most all Motherboards have a Temperature Sensor for the CPU and other Components..... Also most Motherboards have a shutdown Temperature that you set in the Bios and once the CPU reaches that temp the PC will shut down so maybe you should check your Bios settings and make sure you don"t have the Shutdown temp set too low (70C is a Good Temp to set the Shutdown Temp to)... There are many programs that will monitor the temp of your CPU and other motherboard Components Like "Motherboard Monitor" or "CPU Cool" or "Hot CPU Tester"...... Also you do have the Latest version but versions 2.01 and 2.02 and 2.03 are just as good and Might be worth a try if all else fails... Good luck
I downloaded CPU cool, and monitored the CPU temperature, and logged it all, and I checked the temperature which was last read before it shut down, and it said: 11/05/2005 03:06:28 PM; Temp1 101.0 °C; Temp2 41.0 °C; VCore 1 1.42 V; VCore 2 2.66 V; 3,3 V 3.31 V; 5 V 5.13 V; 12 V 11.56 V; V bat 3.4; V opt 5.8; V accu 110.0; -5 V --1.6 V; -12 V --0.8 V; Fan 1 3444 RPM ; But, I'm not sure what the two temperatures are for..
The First Temperature is for your CPU and the second is for your Motherboard and your CPU is "WAY TOO HOT" ,I am surprised that it hasn"t been Damaged yet or it might allready be damaged and you just don"t know it yet....101c It over twice what the Normal operateing temperature is and it is about 20c to 40c above safe operateing temperatures depending on the Type of CPU you have.... To give you an idea my CPU right now is running at 30c and mine is Overclocked by 25% so yours should be just as Cool or at least between 30c and 50c for normal operateing temps.... I suggest that you shut down your PC right now and open it up and Clean it out very well especially the Fan and heatsink over the CPU and any other Fans and ventilation Holes inside the Case or on the Motherboard, what I use is I take My Vacume cleaner and turn it in Reverse so it blows and i blow all of the dust out of the case and then i will take a small paint brust and Loosen any left over dust that is Clinging to the fans and especially to the Heatsink above the CPU and then use the Vacume to blow all of the dust that you just loosened...It also might be a Good Idea to Install a couple fans in your Case if you don"t allready have a couple.... If this is the First time Cleaning out your PC in a Long time (Like over 6 months) you will see "LOTS" of dust Everywere and dust and Heat are the biggest enemies of Computer Components and too much dust causes heat by restricting air flow and slowing down your Fans.... After cleaning out your PC you should Notice that your Normal temps should be way down and if they aren"t take the Side off of your PC case and see if it helps and if it does then keep it that way till you get a couple fans to put in the case which should help bring down the temps...If it is still too hot after all of that then you might consider getting a better Heatsink/Fan for your CPU.... In my Case I have 5 Case fans for cooling and I have a high end Heatsink/Fan for Cooling my Overclocked CPU and my temps are cooler overclocked than most are Not overclocked..... Good Luck
I just cleaned all the dust out of the tower, and I have left the side off to let more air get to it. And so far its only on 42C so thats good, and it seems to be using quite a bit less of the CPU power, around 70% on average, and the lowest is about 50%, which is good! Just hope it stops it from turning off, so fingers crossed. Thanks for the help aswell, and I'll see about getting some extra fans for inside! Thanks again
Well Your temps have come way down but your CPU should be at 0% to 10% Utilization when you aren"t doing anything with your PC so when you are Just surfing the net and checking your Mail ect your CPU should be at under 25% utilization and should only go up to 50% or 70% or higher when you are encodeing or doing some other CPU Intensive Activity but when doing nothing your CPU should be at close to 0% utilization...... Cheers
Yes, thats what I mean, its around 70% when I am encoding. It seems to be working fine now, thanks for the help
