I have tried anything in mind...Dvdshrink (which is the program i always use with no problems -except once with Shrek-), Dvdxcopy, Dvd Decripter, AnyDvd.... I keep getting errors exactly after 16% of backup process. I can backup my movies all of the times with no problem. Any Ideas???
The disc may work perfectly but if it has a mark on it you will not be able to back up unless you repair the disk. John179
Hi, It's not unknown for factory discs to have corrupt data on them. DVD players are built to compensate for these errors but when you put the disc in a PC drive and try to rip the disc bit for bit these errors are enough to shut the process down. If the disc is recently purchased I'd suggest returning it for another. If not, try enabling "Ignore Read Errors" in Decrypter's settings
Try updating your firmware for your drive. I updated Last Samurai with both XCopy and with DVD Decrypter w/DVDClone, no prob.
portica, As you have been told it may well be your disc so might I suggest that you might want to rent a DVD from Blockbuster and copy that. It would save you a ton of time and the cost is small cheers, Pete
The problem with going to Blockbusters and renting a film and then backing it up is you are breaking the law.However as Pete mentioned it this may be your only choice.The wife went shopping the other day and purchased a new film for the kids.Me doing my normal thing went to back it up as i always let the kids have the back ups so they do not damage the original disc.This would not back up so me being me i blamed the kids.The mrs went to take it back and the shop and they would not take it as the seal was removed.So my only options in this case is 1.Just stick with the damaged original 2.Rent a copy and take the risk. I have chose to stick with option one as it is one of the kids and they can still watch it.Had it been one i puchased option 1 batter the shop manager for not taking back damaged goods and insist on a new copy. Option 2 If option 1 did not work get me self down block busters. If I had bought a DVD & it failed to back up ... I would then demand another copy or a full refund. But if then told by manager or assistant in shop that wasn't possible cos the seal was broken I would procede to tell them that how would anyone know that a disc was faulty unless they had taken it out & played the disc [or at least tried to play ... or in this case 'rip'...but hey they dont need to know that ...it would only coomplicate matters]. Your statutory rights have been affected & ergo a replacement or full refund should be forthcoming. Next step if that wasn't successful , ask for area managers phone number w/ extension and/or e-mail address !
Obviously you are in the Uk like me and you will notice there not quite that easy to get your re fund these days.If you go in to a store and the film works ok on there dvd player then it is fine never mind if it can be backed up on your pc.You know even if you you go in certain stores in the trafford centre like the wife did and purchased a pair of trainers for my eldest which did not fit.We asked for the next size up sorry we have not got.Ok cash will do sorry the manager is not here you will have to have a credit note.After arguing with the staff i took the credit note until i could go through the whole thing again the next day with the manager finally getting my cash back.I felt dead embarrased talking in front of of customers but then they know that and just want you to go away.
