Sonce yesterday i've been having troubles with my Samsung CD-RW drive. When i try to burn a CD with any kind of files (mp3, avi, etc.) i get a "writing error" after 4 or 5 minutes. Im't using Sony CD-R, so the media must not be a problem, and also i've tried burning a CD using Windows XP, but i got the same result. Here's the log from Nero: Windows XP 5.1 IA32 WinAspi: - ahead WinASPI: File 'C:\Archivos de programa\Ahead\Nero\Wnaspi32.dll': Ver=2.0.1.74, size=164112 bytes, created 26/10/2004 18:35:34 Nero Version: 6.6.0.16 Internal Version: 6, 6, 0, 16b Recorder: <SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW-252B> Version: R704 - HA 0 TA 1 - 6.6.0.16 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 0 Drive buffer : 2048kB Bus Type : default (0) -> ATAPI, detected: ATAPI CD-ROM: <HITACHI DVD-ROM GD-7000 >Version: 016J - HA 1 TA 0 - 6.6.0.16 Adapter driver: <atapi> HA 1 === Scsi-Device-Map === DiskPeripheral : WDC WD400BB-00DEA0 atapi Port 0 ID 0 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW-252B atapi Port 0 ID 1 DMA: On CdRomPeripheral : HITACHI DVD-ROM GD-7000 atapi Port 1 ID 0 DMA: On === CDRom-Device-Map === SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW-252B E: CDRom0 HITACHI DVD-ROM GD-7000 F: CDRom1 ======================= AutoRun : 1 Excluded drive IDs: WriteBufferSize: 74448896 (0) Byte ShowDrvBufStat : 0 BUFE : 0 Physical memory : 511MB (523756kB) Free physical memory: 188MB (193120kB) Memory in use : 63 Uncached PFiles: 0x0 Use Inquiry : 1 Global Bus Type: default (0) Check supported media : Disabled (0) 19.9.2005 CD-ROM (ISO) 18:32:24 #1 Text 0 File Isodoc.cpp, Line 6356 Iso document burn settings ------------------------------------------ Determine maximum speed : FALSE Simulate : TRUE Write : FALSE Finalize CD : FALSE Multisession : FALSE Burning mode : DAO Mode : 1 ISO Level : 1 (Max. of 11 = 8 + 3 char) Character set : ISO 9660 Joliet : TRUE Allow pathdepth more than 8 directories : TRUE Allow more than 255 characters in path : TRUE Write ISO9660 ;1 file extensions : TRUE 18:32:24 #2 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 2948 SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW-252B JustLink activated 18:32:24 #3 Text 0 File Reader.cpp, Line 127 Reader running 18:32:24 #4 Text 0 File Writer.cpp, Line 122 Writer SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW-252B running 18:32:24 #5 ISO9660GEN -11 File geniso.cpp, Line 3309 First writeable address = 0 (0x00000000) 18:32:24 #6 Text 0 File Burncd.cpp, Line 3233 Turn on Disc-At-Once, using CD-R/RW media 18:32:24 #7 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 270 Last possible write address on media: 359848 ( 79:59.73) Last address to be written: 352255 ( 78:18.55) 18:32:24 #8 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 282 Write in overburning mode: NO (enabled: CD) 18:32:24 #9 Text 0 File DlgWaitCD.cpp, Line 2483 Recorder: SAMSUNG CD-R/RW SW-252B; CDR code: 00 97 27 18; OSJ entry from: Plasmon Data systems Ltd. I'm thinking that my CD-RW drive must be dead...but i want to be sure. Thanx!! P.D: Sorry for my english.
U could try using InCD 2 set up a disc as (drag & drop) file storage. This will at least give u another way of testing if the CD drive is OK.
- firmware's up to date - burner doesn't like those discs. try different discs - see previous comment - simulation is a great idea for troubleshhoting - looks good to me @Dix_Fix - don't ant to dismiss your reply, but InCD is awful
