Hi - wonder if anyone can help! I have been able to burn a few dvds (using dvd-rw's) but in the past few days I can't burn anything! I have also tried DVD+Rs with no luck. I un-installed Nero and then re-installed. Tweaked the speed (and went for high quality) and was able to burn 1 dvd, but since then nothing. Given the time it takes to transcode, and after several failures I "burnt" the file to HD first then used the recode to try and burn to disc. It worked that one time (above). My most recent log fil is this: ********** Nero Recode 2 ********** Version: 2.2.6.17 Project type: Copy entire DVD Target size: DVD5 (2282925) Burn settings: Target: PHILIPS PBDV1640P Number of copies: 1 Write speed: 3324 KB/s Temp folder: C:\Documents and Settings\Rob\My Documents\Nero Recode (37935280128 bytes free) Direct burning: false Target media: DVD+R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD-RAM, DVD-R DL, DVD+R DL Shutdown when finished: false Advanced Analysis: false Compress Adaptive: true 21:21:05 File burn_dvdfiles.cpp, Line 231 Compile DVD: init VMG Menus Vobs [5 vobus] 0.79MB -> 0.79MB [R 1.00] Video: 0.76MB, extra: 0.03MB Audio: 0 streams Subpicture: 1 streams 0. 0. a couple of things i see 1) edit out your serial #... starts with 1a20 ........... 2) i know there is an update, i just have not found the link yet.. 3) the ones that say off] need to be turned on go here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/260038 4) i dont think the drive liked that media MCC01 (verbatim) thats where the firmware comes in to play. 5) you can burn up to 4x, even 6x on that verbatim 6) a little low on the memory side... and your using too many applications while using nero, close some down, reduce the 77% to a much lower number, run a defrag too, clean out some junk 7) and dump InCd at once... using nero's clean tools. go here http://ww2.nero.com/nero6/enu/Nero_6_CleanTool.html
Thanks for the reply. I found the new version 3.6 but it hasn't helped as yet. I went into task manager but wasn't sure which tasks I could close safely. I also went to defrag the HD but Windows said it didn't need it, but I defragged anyway. I deleted incd. I'm having problems with the dma issues however.
when you used nero's tool to clean InCd.. make sure its all gone. run a search just to be sure. key words are InCd and Ahead..., just delete the ones that come up that say InCd.. you can also manually delete them in the registry. in you task manager, when it says what running by the file name, copy and past it in a google search as in from the window, run it and see just what it really is... if you know what it is and can shut it down, do it. if you dont, leave it alone. try this first, then see if it helps, also, set your burn to 'simulate' so you dont waste a disk, then if you get an error, re-post that back up again..
thanks for all your trouble I've discovered the answer - use a different brand of disks! I bought some "mirror" disks - burning fine anyone want to buy 25 verbatim shiny coasters???
