Hello it's my first time here... I'm facing a problem and I dont understand what happened I have a LG GSA-4163B DVD Burner in which the DVD-R burning speeds can go up to 16x... I used to burn at 8x most the times, but suddenly I can't seem to burn higher than 2x ! In the box where you choose the speed you want to burn your dvd there's just the 2x option... I have the Nero Burning ROM version 6.6.0.12 any help in how to solve this i would appreciate since it's very frustrating burning dvd's at 2x speed !
most likely your burner went back to PIO mode, you need to set it back to DMA on: http://home.comcast.net/~bbmayo/FAQ.htm here is how to do it, use the link above good luck docTY~
I think that you could update your nero as well - current 6.6.0.18 which may help. Current firmware for your 6143 is A105 is that what you have?
yes i have just upgraded my firmware... before there was only the 2x option... now there are the 1x option the 2x option and also the 2.4x but still there is no 4x neither the 8x... !
i did both things... i updated the firmware as well i uninstalled the controllers and then rebooted the PC so it would install them again... ! the problem still remains... only 2x burning option !...
Salvador_, i closed 3 of your posts due to multi-posting, if happens again than you'll hear the thunder. read the rules above about posting 1 thread per subject. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/270251 http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/270252 http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/270193
ok ok ! i wont repeat ! didnt know the rules thought if they were in different topics it was allowed... anyways... i updated my firmware as well i uninstalled the controllers and everything i also uninstalled the nero and installed it again and the problem still remains... any help is welcome
ok, if you have the most recent firmware AND checked to see that your DMA is in fact ON, the only other thing i can think of right now is THE MEDIA~! if you are using 'crappy', meaning POOR QUALITY media, some burners will only write at a certain speed on said media... what kind of media are you using? ie. name brand and/or media ID coding~ what rated speed are they?? if you are using low quality media, then that COULD be the culprit, other than that if the 2 aforementioned suggestions are current and up to date, i can't think of anything else that could result in your burning ONLY allowing 2x burn speeds docTy~
Thank you for your suggestions... ! i was using Samsung DVD-R 8x and TKD 8x also... well since i had to do a major clean up to my hard drive i took advantage and re installed windows xp and everything and update to nero 6.0.6.18 and it's now working =) thanks 4 everything
ok good to hear you got it sorted...a reformat/fresh install USUALLY solves the problems 99% of the time when you KNOW what to do the 2nd time around~ hehe docTy~
