Hello it's my first time here... I'm facing a problem and I dont understand what happened I have a LG GSA-4163B DVD Burner in which the DVD-R burning speeds can go up to 16x...

I used to burn at 8x most the times, but suddenly I can't seem to burn higher than 2x ! In the box where you choose the speed you want to burn your dvd there's just the 2x option... I have the Nero Burning ROM version 6.6.0.12

any help in how to solve this i would appreciate since it's very frustrating burning dvd's at 2x speed !

I think that you could update your nero as well - current 6.6.0.18 which may help. Current firmware for your 6143 is A105 is that what you have?

ok, if you have the most recent firmware AND checked to see that your DMA is in fact ON, the only other thing i can think of right now is THE MEDIA~!

if you are using 'crappy', meaning POOR QUALITY media, some burners will only write at a certain speed on said media...

what kind of media are you using? ie. name brand and/or media ID coding~ what rated speed are they??

if you are using low quality media, then that COULD be the culprit, other than that if the 2 aforementioned suggestions are current and up to date, i can't think of anything else that could result in your burning ONLY allowing 2x burn speeds

ok good to hear you got it sorted...a reformat/fresh install USUALLY solves the problems 99% of the time when you KNOW what to do the 2nd time around~ hehe
