was it really necessary to change your ip when you could have used your network setup wizard...

at least i think this is what you are talking about.

Do you have them on the same network workgroup? you can check at properties of my computer then click on network Identification tab -> workgroup. And change folders on both pc to share.

    so you can try this.
    On pc, Ip 192.168.1.11
    On laptop, Ip 192.168.1.111
They should see each other in the Network Neighborhood.

You must mean changing your IP Address - Are you connected to the internet or any addititonal network devices at the same time? If not then the only change will be that you are located at a different IP Address.

An IP (Interent Protocal) Address is a bunch of numbers that refer to your computer specifically, so that it can be found by other computers or devices. Changing it will mean that other computers or devices will need to look for you on a different number.

If you are using an VoIP Phone or Credit Card Reader or some such on the network it may be a problem - if your not then it should be okay to pick, altho we usually advise allowing your server to asign these IPAddresses itself (DHCP)..

At the end of the day (as you seem pretty desparate..) it aint gonna blow up the machine or electrocute you, but it may not help in any way either - give it a try and find out..!

** PS: You will need to enable file sharing on both machines - This is quite important !! **
