Hi. This is my first time trying to convert a DivX.avi file to Mpeg for VCD. From whatever info I've retrieved from various sites, I still can't convert this file and a window "...unsupported file..." pops up. Have used various conversion softwares, including TMPGenc but nothing seems to be happening. HELP PLEASE!!!!! Thanks!!! P/S : Checked the properties of the file and for Video it mentions that it is an 'MPEG Layer-3' type...what does this mean and is this related to the above problem? Thanks
You need to make sure that you are converting your file to that of an mpeg 1 file so that you can burn it to a cdr. Can you run your file through avicodec and show us the whole of the properties.
Can't do Print Screen here....so sorry about that. Maybe you can teach me how. But what info I have for you from AVIcodec is : Filename : Desperate.Housewives.S02E01.HDTV.XviD-TV.avi V.codec name : XVID Mpeg-4 A.1 codec name : MPEG Layer-3 File : 349 MB (349 MB), duration: 0:42:15, type: AVI, 1 audio stream(s), quality: 50 % Video : 312 MB, 1034 Kbps, 23.976 fps, 624*352 (16:9), XVID = XVID Mpeg-4, Unsupported Audio : 37 MB, 122 Kbps, 48000 Hz, 2 channels, 0x55 = MPEG Layer-3, Supported Hope this is sufficent info. Thanks again for your help!
ok.Good job. This is what we want. ok its almost there.I suggest you check out a program called dvdsanta. It can convert your mpeg4 file back to mpeg2 which will then be abled to be burned to your dvd+/-R disc
Install the Xvid codec. It is free, and will make things easier. (more suggestion: install also DivX. I'll make lot of things easier, in the future. If you use that coDEC only to DECode, it's free. You need to pay for it only to COmpress files). Will it do it even if you doesn't have the codec which knows how to decompress the AVI?
@ aldaco12: thats a very good point which i forgot, it wont will it.Gee even i have sloppy days................
