Good evening, I am using a Compaq Presario AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3300+, 2411MHz/960 RAM, running Windows Xp Home Sp#2, while using IE7. A few weeks back I downloaded the new WMP11 and it played music just fine. Then a few days ago I purchased some music files from a music service and downloaded them to my hard drive complete with individual licenses to burn them to at least 10 CDs apiece. Then for the first time I decided to use my WMP11 to burn them to a CD so my wife could enjoy them in her CD player too. It was then I learned that the burning function in WMP11 wasn't working. This was no big deal for me because I had always used 'SonicRecordNow' to burn anything I wanted to CDs. But now when I went to use the program to burn these newly purchased songs to CD it said they were not valid music files. Is this because they are .wma files instead of .wav or do you think it has something to do with the licensing? I can copy all the Mp3 and .wav files in my music folder to CDs anytime I want. Thanks and regards, 2harts4ever
I had the same bloody problem, So I buy from allofmp3.com for one tenth of the price and get mp3 files. No worries now. Edward
You might be able to recover those files by using Fairuse4wm. However, this requires that you uninstall WMP11 and go back to WMP9 (the whole purpose behind WMP11, like Vista, is to prevent cracking tools like Fairuse4wm from working). Fairuse4wm needs your license keys to work. However, finding a non-virused copy for Fairuse4wm is a trick unto itself, let alone rolling back to WMP9. emoore has given the best advice possible in this situation - cut your losses and buy from allofmp3.com in the future. One other advantage that allofmp3.com offers that's absolutely brilliant is online encoding. WMA and MP3 are not full-quality formats. AllofMP3 offers Musepack (MPC) and MPEG-4AAC encoding. That means you can get full, CD-like quality (or very close to it), unlike what you get with WMA and MP3. You would still need a conversion program to burn these to CD, but they provide better quality than either WMA or MP3. of course, you can still choose MP3 too if you want.
Hi Dunker, Thanks for replying to my post. I think if I could get my WMP11 to burn music from my hard drive to CDs my problem would be solved because I do have a license to burn each song 10 times to different CDs according to Wal-Mart. My big problem is for one reason or another the 'Sonic RecordNow' program which came bundled with my computer won't burn the .wma files, licensed or not. So I am burning the mid-night oil trying to figure out how to get it up and running (WMP11 burn feature). I can't roll back to WMP10 because ever since I did a recent system restore for something not even connected with WMP my WMP11 says it rolled back but it didn't. If you have any suggestions bring 'em on. Thanks and regards, 2harts4ever
Hey Dunker, Thanks for the compliment. I'm not that smart, it's just that I got lucky with allofmp3. Hope they beat the system. Forward! Emoore
