Just installed the new drive and it is working great. I can load the ms dash, go on live, play backed up games etc.

However, i can't use the F drive. This is the whole reason for upgrading the HD!!!

The drive is locked using Config Magic.

Does it have to be set to slave and will this make any difference if it is not. Sorry, this is the only reason i can think for it not working!

Any help will be much appreicated.

    thanks

Also, the both F and G are enabled in the EvoX ini

hey scott.. so with a modded xbox and the chip off and hd lock.. u r able to play live without any problem. There was a rumor that ur xbox will get ban when u play online with a modded xbox..

As long as the hard drive is locked and the chip is off you should be okay on live.

    yes it will work if
    1. chip is disabled
    2. hard drive locked
    3. and using original game disc to play

thats all u need also u se the newer xecuter bios so ur xbox does not try to connect to xboxlive when u have you chip on.

I heard that the larger drive makes it nessecary to keep the chip on. The factory dash can't read the extra drives. Anyone have the answer?

I find with a new hard drive the stuff loads slower. Not games or anything just the dashboard and programs take forever to load .

    whats up with that ?

The rumor was about the size of the HD... It is believe that Xbox Live check the size of your HD and logs the info... maybe one day they'll ban people for it but I wouldn't think so because we still buy the games to play on Live and being a subscriber brings them cash

not a rumor its true, even if you lock the drive you can get banned, the new detection code looks for the size and make of the HDD, but does not search your HDD(or so microsoft say) because that would be illegal.

well the thing is they are checking hard drives but they have not banned anyone yet. plus how could they ban anyone if they indeed are using the orginal game disc and not runing the chip while they are on the service.
