I am posting on behalf of a friend who has been given a money by her work to purchase a lap top. She will use it for her work in social media but also for gaming but not FPS games. Her two choice are : 1. ASUS G53JW-A1 15.6IN FHD Core i7 740QM 1.73 GHz, with Turbo Boost up to 2.93 GHz 6GB ram 750GB GeForce 460M 1.5GB GDDR5 VRAM 2. Dell Alienware M14x 14.0in Intel Core i7 2.3 GHz 3072MB DDR3 nVidia GeForce GT 555M 8 GB ram
Personally I would go with the Alienware...it has better technical specs and the build quality is a lot better. Plus Alienware laptops run cool...a good thing if you actually use it on your lap. Just two little issues...the M14x isn't available in a 2.3GHZ model...only 2.0, 2.2, and 2.4. Also, get the 1536MB GeForce GT555M version...even that is far more VRAM than you will need with a GT555M.
I wouldn't touch alienware.. overpriced upbranded toshiba hardware that costs about 60% of the price until they cripple the bios and stick their name on it!!! spend your money elsewhere.. you can get a lot more bang for your buck!!
