Hello, I am new to burning SVCD (with Nero) and I am successful using TMPEG which works great to encode if the file is .avi or .mpeg or similar. I have 2 files which "appear" to be .avi but when I click on properties it says (video clip)I cannot encode these no matter what I do and cannot find forum threads with this problem, can anyone help me in laymens terms? (Not a blonde but not a techie either) Thanks.
Open Explorer. Click Tools, Folder options, View tab. Remove the tick mark in "Hide extentions for known file types". Find your "video clip", and see what extention it has.
ok-before I followed your instructions the extension read: (xvid 576x256-112k vbr mp3 by 7) after following your advice it reads: (xvid 576x256-112k vbr mp3 by 7).avi so...apparently it's an .avi but TMPEG says it does not support this file. Can it be because of all the symbols and spaces? Is there a way I can change that (if that is indeed the problem?) on Type of File...it still says video clip any suggestions? thanks
Do you have the xvid codecs installed? If so, use gspot to analyse the file. it will report the type of the file and video and audio codecs it is using... Tim
Hello-I went to Gspot and d/l the software to analize the file. The audio codec stats says "Codec(s) Installed" but the video is xvid (mpeg4) the stats says "Codec(s) are NOT Installed" how do I go about installing them? I looked around but like I said before, I'm not a techie but I can follow instructions. Thanks
ALRIGHTY THEN!!!! I went looking for the xvid codec and installed it, rebooted and BINGO... TMPEG can now encode for burning. THANKS for the help, I'm sure I will come back to the forums for some other solutions Peace and thanks
