Try ConvertXtoDVD. WinAVI is hit-and-miss as is Nero. ConvertXtoDVD can automatically burn to DVD. It's not free but a good solution. A good free program would be AVI2DVD.

Also, what kind of discs are you using to burn? That can be the problem also!

I have a couple of questions. When you use this ConvertXtoDVD, does this program remove any copyright protection. Or does it only converts the file type, from AVI to ? If the AVI movie has copy copyright protected, how do your remove this during the process?

One of my friends has a copy protected AVI. He called me and asked how to copy it. I have another friend trying to copy a MPEG video with copy right protection stored on his hard drive, 714 MB in size. He wants to put it on a CD or DVD to play in his standalone payer. any idea for that one, as well.

My friend which has the MPEG Video used the convertxtodvd program and when he put, not sure whether it was a cd or dvd, into his standalone, it said something about either protection or region. I can't remember what he said, guess I should find out, huh? LOL All I know is he said it didn't work. He did say he tried to change the file type from MPEG video to MPEG movie. and the file he was trying to copy was already on his HDD. I don't know what type of movie it is or where he got it. Got me on that stuff. I'm sticking with just backup up my regular movies. Which so far I've hard no problems. Knock on wood!

    supaphly1,

No problem it is your thread and you were the one looking for answers it just kind of got off track there for a bit. Anyway did you look at the guide I provided you a link to and give that a go? It is old, but still works pretty darn good. Basically it is using DivXtoDVD which is the free older version of ConvertXtoDVD. It still works perfectly fine, but it is free :) AVI2DVD has some mixed reviews around here and I used it some but never was very fond of the results it produced. Your other option you could try is I see you have Nero so you could just use Nero Vision Express here is a guide for that http://webpages.charter.net/bacitup/TheGuides/NVE Basics.pdf Sorry never used AVS Video converter.

    Edit
Oh yeah the Memorsux disk's get rid of them and buy some Verbatim, trust me it will save you some headaches.

    BBmayo-
yah I figured but I got the memorex for a deal and a half. I figure if I get say half of them to work it'll be a success. Im not sure what has happened to my avi2dvd as any avi or kmv file freezes the program. I did look at your first guide and I have it saved and plan on trying it out tonight.

    Rotary-
Thanks for all the help. Hopefully Ill get the avi2dvd to work properly.

Do either of you know something that can convery the kmv file to dvd?
the avi2dvd is supposed to work but again it isnt haha. any suggestions? or does the filmmachine do the kmv convertion?
