I donwloaded an .avi video (encoded in DivX) from eMule that, when I open it with Media Player, it doesn't pass beyond the first image. Whatever the player I use, it doesn't even start. On DivX Player it givs the error "readinputfilter() failed to read: 15744". However, I tried to open it with VirtualDubMod, and it plays, although it 'jams' (has cuts; 'stops and goes') a lot. Several users say on eMule that it's really good, but my PC can't seem to be able to play it right... I already opened it with GSpot, and it says I have all the codecs I need and it renders! Can anybody help me, please??!? Thanks Mike
Downloaded avis often contain errors. You may check for and correct errors using e.g. DivFix, then try play it again. But be sure to backup the avi first. Good luck!
I already used DivFix, but it found no erros... :-s Thanks anyway! EDIT: It just doesn't pass beyond the first frame, I can scroll to various parts of the video, but it doesn't play, ie, I push play and the damn things doesn't play! Weird... And when I play it through VDM, my PC crashes after 2 minutes.
Here's what's worked for me: Try use Power Video Converter or X Video Converter to change the codec of the avi (set video to Xvid, and audio to mpeg layer 3).
I changed the codec to DivX;-) Mpeg-4 Fast-Motion and it works!! I also tried XviD like you said and it works too. What's the most suitable to make the video readable in most DVD players? Video and audio... Thanks for your help, guys!
Glad that it works, and indeed you can experiment with different video and audio combinations. It's fun. Anyway, my experience has been that setting video to XVid and audio to Mpeg Layer 3 appears to be most welcomed by other programs (e.g. Nero) and DVD players. But do more experimenting yourself for quality and compatibility. Cheers!
