i have had this problem for a little while i am using nero oem suite 1 not sure what version it is it came with my mad dog MegaSTOR 6-in-1 16X/8X Double Layer Internal DVD±R/±RW dvd burner. and i uninstalled the software. my problem is that my dvd burner wont allow me to write at a low speed currently the lowest i can choose is 8x for some reason whether its cds or dvds. and i would like to backup my ps2 games. when i click on the drop box to choose a speed ,4x and lower are not showing and one time ago 4x and lower used to be there but i couldnt choose the higher speeds and it all changed when i went on the mad dog site to see if there was a way for me to get the higher speeds in, i didnt install anything just went to look at the site and pressto the higher speeds where in but now i cant get back to the lower ones. am not sure if its the software or if it is the burner itself. i have tried other software but they just use the same high settings i have tried it with burnatonce and alcohol 120% still the same problem am not really good at computers so with any advice can i have a step by step idea on how to fix my problem.
first of all i am not clued up on your dvd burner but just to rule out the obvious, check your dvd media are 4x discs to me they sound like they are 8xdiscs?
yes they are 8x but u thought that i would have had the option to pick at what speed i would be able to burn at including if u wanted to burn them at a lower speed. at one time i had that option but it isnt there anymore to choose from 6x and lower in nero or any other program. as i mentioned before i would like to back up my ps2 games and from what i understand if i burn them any higher than 4x it would just be a waste. am using fuji film dvd+r 8x. and when u say clued up on the dvd burner what other info do u need me to give u, i will try my best to get it and try to explain what i mean.
hi well i have been backing up ps2 games for some time and i have not had one coaster or any game freeze on me and i burn on sonydvd-r at 8x and also the odd burn at 12x just to see if i could and i burnt gt4 at 12x perfect like i say if you have good quality media and a good burner you should be ok at 8x just my opinion?
well i guess my question was goin to be if your ps2 could read your backup games burnt at 8x and 12x but you answered that, so i guess i will take a crack at it and let u know how it goes. i was just a bit scared to try it with my dvds because i have a limited supply and not alot of cash to get replacement dvds. and can u give me the site to the tutorial that you used to do your backups but am guessing it was from this site. thanks for the help and i will keep you posted on my progress, this will b my first time trying this, and by the way what version of nero are you using.
i use nero6 ultra edition and to answer your question on backing up a ps2 game use dvd decryptor iso/read then iso/write it is a free proggy.http://www.freewebs.com/mybackups and if you use link you will get some very useful information on how to back up your games hope this helps catch you soon mate.
some 8x disks do not have the option of burning slower, I got some that only burn at 8x or 1x. Check the media if it says 1-8x then you can burn at any speed but if it says 8x only then you don't have any other options.
