When i drag an asf or avi file into the compilation window of nero 6.0.0.19 i get this message: "Server busy: The other program is in use. Clic on the proper button in the task bar to activate the program" :-? Any help would be appreciated.
I dont know about what you just wrote but from your title, you CANT make vcd's from ASF/AVI files period. You need to encode them to MPEG format first. This is accomplished by first using another program like TMPEGEnc or CCE to encode them to MPEG and then use those MPEG files for VCD burning. For more info on encoding to (S)VCD with TMPGEnc: http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/43085
I know how to convert asf or avi to mpeg but i just want to make the vcd without converting these files since nero 6 support vcd using asf,avi or mov files and if i convert them into mpeg they lose some quality and get much larger.
The only reason Nero6 support AVI and ASF files for VCDs is because it encodes them on the fly for you and the encoder is (a) SLOW and (b) CRAPPY and (c) lots of people have problems with it. You are right to say that MPEGs lose quality and get bigger compared to AVIs --- but what did you think VCDs were? A VCD is just an MPEG1 encoded file (MPEG1 1150Kb/s, MP3 224kb/s). So when you make a VCD you ARE making an MPEG file.
