cant open up my disk drive

whenever i hit the xbox eject button ( xbox #1 ) it comes out like a cenemeter then it gets stuck so i have to take a paper clip and go underneath the o and the x on the disk drive and pull it out if anyone knows how to fix this please help.

 

You'll probably just have to open up your disc drive and see if anything jammed up in the gears.

actually its pretty old i got it like 4 months after xbox came out but i no alot of people that got it around the same time i did and theirs is still fine

 

well it depends on the xbox for what's happening.

 

There's a lot it could be. I had one about that age that I had to replace myself. You could always just order a replacement drive, or simply pop the metal sheathing off the top of the drive and look inside for a better idea of what the problem is.

It sounds a lot like something is physically obstructing it, and we can speculate any number of things; but actually getting in there would only take a few minutes, and would ultimately answer the question for you.

Heck a lot of times it's something stupid like a coin or animal hair clogging the tray mechanism. Believe me, fixing these things for friends and family, I've seen it *all*.
