Recording vhs to dvd-r's on zenith xbr413. Plays back on sony pc using xp home, but cannot be recognized on sony slv-300p dvd/vcr playback. should i be using specific dvd's for recording? Any sugggestions, most appreciated.
According to the comments on DVDRHelp, the SLV-D300P is not a great player, but it supports DVD-R discs. http://www.dvdrhelp.com/dvdplayers.php?DVDnameid=2657&Search=Search&#comments Try top-brand discs (many people here recommend Ritek G04) and burn with Nero in DVD-Video mode (you can download a trial version if necessary).
I'm with daba on this one...... after weeks and weeks of reading i've have learnt that a pc dvd rom drive may not be quite as fussy as a stand alone player when it comes to the standard of the media used. to give an example.........some of my early attempts play great on pc.........not quite so good on stand alone player........and bloody terrible on ps2. these early attempts were on cheap media. since i have started using nothing but ritek g04 then all my back-ups play great on what ever player i choose to use. hope this helps dmmcg viper
DVD-ROMS are made to be "disc sluts". They'll read damn near anything. daba and viper are spot on with recommending the Riteks - they are a very compatible media.
