i have a dell latitude D520. i decided to play around with my computer and get away from windows!! i installed Fedora core 9 linux on my computer without partitioning the hard drive. i am a total newbie when it comes to linux and decided that linux just isnt for me, so i tried to reinstall windows xp but got blank black screen before the blue setup screen while booting my dell windows xp reinstall cd. i need to know how i can get rid of fedora and reinstall windows. can anybody help me? once again, if it involves code or nething, i need an in depth step by step process because i am a newbie. thank you.
That reinstall cd is just to repair an existing windows installation... It is incomplete and the only way I know to install XP on a previously linux machine is to use a full retail xp installation disk.. (or pirate it.. you know.. you have a legit key probably on a sticker on your machine.. that's all you need to be legal.. you can find dell oem XP disks in the wild.. I have one) Why not try a few different flavours of linux before running back to the apron strings? Fedora isn't for anybody.. try ubuntu which is designed for beginners. strange side note.. none of my dell machines are keen on redhat/fedora either, yet the old cyrix machines just love it.
