trying to help a friend here when he tries to shut down his computer it goes to windows is shutting down and just stays there. so he has to keep turning off the power. have already tried changing auto end tasks but that didnt help. anybody got any ideas
;Auto End Tasks Quicker [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control] "WaitToKillServiceTimeout"="2000" [HKEY_USERS\.DEFAULT\Control Panel\Desktop] "AutoEndTasks"="1" "HungAppTimeout"="1000" "WaitToKillAppTimeout"="2000" [HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop] "AutoEndTasks"="1" "HungAppTimeout"="1000" "WaitToKillAppTimeout"="2000" You are not just pulling are you. You should be able push and hold the power button. That will force shutdown. Look in the control pannel power options. Try this. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Memory Management Select ClearPageFileAtShutdown from the list on the right. Right on it and select Modify. Change the value to 0 to disable. Reboot your computer
thanks for the advice but it didnt help ive posted a hijackthis log in relevant forum to see if it could be a virus of some kind
