Okay so i have a 8800GTX 768MB EVGA VIDEO CARD. It requires to 6pin SLI connectors to power the card. Now i want to get another 8800GTX EVGA CARD. But the problem is u already used up my two 6pin SLI connectors for this card from my OCZ 700WATT PSU Supply. Do i need to buy another 6pin SLI connector adapter or something? Or is a good idea to have two 8800GTX GRAPHIC CARD TO SLI??

I wouldn't recommend using that PSU for that much load. Two 8800GTXs will only use around 450W of real power draw from the supply, but I don't trust OCZ's units to put out what they say they do, you would be wise to get a unit that has the required connectors to start with, such as a Corsair TX 750W.

HOWEVER, why do you want to buy another 8800GTX? Do you really have a problem running games at high enough graphics settings? It would work out much better value to sell your existing card and buy a new single card that can get the job done, such as an HD4870 or GTX260 216 core, or even an HD4870X2.

Thanks for your reply. Well its just one of those things where i always wanted 2 SLI card that i can connect to an have the best graphics.. espically since i have the new GTA IV game on my PC that i want to play at its highest. Cause it lags right now at Medium settings, but i herd that i need a patch to fix that.

But you are saying that the HD 4870 is better then the 8800GTX?

the 8800GTX lost top spot when the new HD4800 and GTX200 series came out. graphics cards tech moves fast, and is usually the first to go within a few months.

To be honest, GTA IV doesn't look like a game that is going to run better simply because you have dual graphics. However, I will acquire the game myself soon and I will look into this. A single graphics card such as the HD4870 has a good 40-50% more performance than an 8800GTX, and this applies for every game, not just the ones that support SLI, plus it will use considerably less power (about 160W versus 360 for two 8800s) - this alone could save you the cost of the second 8800GTX in power usage alone in just one year.

Good point. But i only have a motherboard that can accept only SLI type of video cards which is only GEFORCE type of card. Would you recommend any Good Geforce cards that are better then the 8800GTX and is more effective i using power usage.

No, SLI motherboards can take any type of graphics card. They just can't take two ATI graphics cards at once. Even the HD4870X2 does not fall into that category.

Hmm u sure? Cause i thought with ATi it is Crossfire, and Geforce is SLI... an my motherboard seems to only take SLi no Ati type of graphic cards.. cause if that was the case, then i would have goten the two ATI cards

No, SLI means it can take a single graphics card from either manufacturer, it just means that to take more than one it has to be an nvidia card. That is the way it works and has always worked.

Oh well thats what i wanted to do, is to have Two Video cards in Sli mode or Crossfire mode. If my mobo can't take two cards when it comes to ATI, then no point in getin ATI CARD.

As I stated, there's no point, as one HD4870 will be much better than your current 8800GTX, and unless you use a 30" PC monitor, it will be plenty sufficient to max out any game without lag.

I have an 8800GTX 768MB EVGA VIDEO CARD myself and thought about buying another to run SLI about 8 months ago; I had a very hard time locating a second card and discovered they no longer manufacture the card. I did see some later, in eVGA's sales e-mails selling as B product. I think that is their re-conditioned cards. The price was very high for outdated reconditioned product. I built two computers with the 8800GTX 768 MB and gave one to my wife. I think when I upgrade my wife's machine I will use my card to SLI her video and replace my card with a 280 or equal unit. I won't pay $600,00 for the latest again only to have the card discontinued within a year.
