Can't watch img. files when burned onto DVD

    I burned an image file onto a DVD using imgburn (DVDDcrypter) and it won't play on my DVD player, where as iso. files always work, is there a difference between the 2 file extensions? and is there a way to burn img. files so they are viewable on a typical DVD player?
    I'd appreciate any help!

    If the img file contained DVD complaint files, ImgBurn would burn them as a DVD. What are the files that are on the burned disc?
