How can I capture a DVD that's encrypted with a Green screen in my video editing program? My ultimate goal is to simply capture a 20 second clip of the movie and edit it in my video editing program.
I have the DVD X Copy Software, it made a copy of the movie but when I tried to capture scenes in the video editing progranm a green screen appeared leading me to believe that the movie was still encrypted. How do I overcome this program.

    imyers49,

You can rip it with DVD Shrink, once done, you'll have all your VOB's and can explore them at will -

    Hiya,

The green screen problem comes from your DVD Player Application using Video Overlay.

Just off the top of my head and without trying too hard, I can think of four ways to get the clip you want:

1 - try switching off Video Overlay (might be known as Hardware Acceleration), and try capturing.

2 - Use a VOB/DVD editing/authoring package (TMPG DVD Author is one) to grab the clip as an MPEG-2.

3 - Use Shrink/DVDStripper/Titleset Blanker etc etc to seperate out the clip you want.

4 - use IFOEdit to strip the clip you want.

There must be many other ways to do it.

    Hope this helps....

    Thanks In Advance.

I downloaded Shrink and I was able to grab the video without the green screen. (YEAH) but, there is no audio. First, Shrink made me save the movie to a folder. When I imported the movie into WinDVD Creator, there was no sound. Is there a way to capture sound along with the video? I also want to have the option for close captioning, is that possible? And lastly, will Shrink allow me to capture any scene I want?

    lamar,

Me thinks my Amigo de "Doc" may have overloaded you -

DVD Shrink was to get your files from your copy so that you can start working with it -

I'm not the guy who understands most of his offerings but his suggestion of using TMPGEnc DVD Author to grab your clip seems the easiest way to go -

I have zero experience with his other 3 offerings -

Sorry "Doc", I've never been down that road :-(

Mayhaps you could help our little friend should he get neck deep in muck - - he,he

I am trying to Capture Video and Constantly see a Green Screen.

Can you please explain each step to doing ALL of these, thank you guys!!!!

1 - try switching off Video Overlay
    2 - Use a VOB/DVD editing/authoring package
    3 - Use Shrink/DVDStripper/Titleset Blanker
4 - use IFOEdit to strip the clip you want.
I am a newbie to all of this and have tried on my own to find the above suggestions and have come up blank.
    Please help.

    Hiya,

You are still having a problem, I see!!!!

Ok, you want a clip from a DVD...
Will MPEG-2 be acceptable for you?
Will your chosen editing program handle it?

It seems you are using WinDVD Creator, so it should be happy with it.

    Let's get this problem licked..
