I just got a new capture card a ATI TV wonder pro, got it all hooked up tried to copy a tape to my computer. After several program attempts found that Windows Movie maker was the easiest to use. My problem is, that at the bottom of the picture is a Black bar, and a Line on top of that bar goes back and fourth. I've tried Ulead Video studio 8, Asus Digital VCR and they all have that line. Is it to do with the Copy Protection on the Video tapes? Copying from DVD player or TV I don't have the problem, nice clear copies. If I got one of those Decoder boxes that you hook between 2 VCRs to get a clear copy would that work? Any suggestions? Spent enough on the card and my videos aren't clear, kinda pissin me off. Any suggestions I'd greatly appreciate it!
I'm not sure in what you mean by this black bar on the top and bottom of the screen.I noticed that when I capture a vhs to a dvd while I am capturing the file to the computer I can see some of the movie flicker some white thing at the bottom but it never affects the final copy to the dvd.Have you make a copy over to a dvd as of yet? So do you get these bars in the dvd as well?
My screen would kind of flicker too, but I had this small bar at the bottom looked like a tool bar, but it was all black and it moved back and fourth. I never tried to burn to DVD, just copying to computer till I got a burner. but Im saying screw it, and getting a regular DVD recoreder to hook to my VCR. thanks though!
I noticed that you have an ATI all in wonder card.I'm not to familiar how it works out but I have a standard video card and tv tuner card.I can copy VHS to DVD just fine with no problems no dropped frames at all.I have a norwood micro tv tuner card that I got from compUSA and it only cost me 50 bucks to purchase.Went to radio shack to get a mini Y adapter to split the sound coming from the sound card and I just use the program that came with the card and it works fine.It doesn't scramble the video like the problem that you are getting.The program is great for comercial VHS.I just hooked up the vcr to the computer using S-video and the mini-Y adapter with RCA plugs to the sound card and VCR and use the program that came with the card and the burn the file with nero vision express.The program is geared to record up to 4.7 gigs or 2 hours or VHS recording or you can change it to record past two hours but you'll have to burn a DL/DVD for the larger file. Or split two dvds.
I use Virtualdub to capture from VHS. Make sure you ar using the right mode, PAL or NTSC, and you can crop out the noise from the video heads at the bottom of the screen.
