Hi, Anyone that is interested in car audio may be able to help me. I have a JVC head unit, running into a Rockford Fosgate 4 channel amp, one of which is powering my sub, the other is hooked up to my 6x9 speakers and components. What I have noticed is a high pitched noise, kinda like guitar feedback, or a whistling noise. This is somehow related to the engine, as it varies in pitch depending on how many RPM the car is doing, but it comes through the speakers. When the stereo system is off, no noise. Any ideas as to what may be causing this, or how I can fix it?
common problem for people that DIY the car audio the head unit.. does it have RCA Jacks in the back to go to the sub? if so run those down the center concole and under the carpet the power line from your battery run down the driver side. your remote line run down the passanger side. this should take care of the noise if not you need to put an inline noise filter in your lines if you are running them off the wires off the orignal speaker lines for the rear speakers you might need just a filter on them basicly the alternator is causing noise from the electric current.
Thanks for the info... adjusted the cables and now no probs... except one other thing, also amp / feedback related. Ever since I have had my amp, when you remove / load a disc, or changing MP3 folders, it makes a feedback noise like thunder, very deep. It used to just come through the sub, but now that I'm running speakers off the amp the noise comes through those as well. I'm assuming it must be related to when the head unit is "thinking" - any ideas anyone? It hasn't altered since I have moved the power lines and RCA's apart either.
