I have an Alpine 12" dual voice coil 4 ohm sub that pushes 1500 watts peak power and 500 watts rms power and i was wondering what amount watt amp i should use to power this sub that would make it perform at its best.

YOU SHOULD TRY AND GET A ONE CHANNEL MONO AMP THAT PUSHES ANYWHERE FROM 800 PEAK TO 1200 PEAK IF YOU CANT GET A ONE CHANNEL AMP USE A TWO CHANNEL BUT DO NOT BRIDGE SPEAKER DOWN TO 1-OHM(NOTE YOU ONLY CAN BRIDGED DOWN TO ONE OHM WITH TWO SPEAKERS COMIN FROM A SINGLE AMP)SO A TWO CHANNEL 2OHM/4OHM 1000W PEAK POWER AMP BRIDGED TO THAT SINGLE SUB WILL BE PLENTY REMEMBER ITS ALWAYS BETTER TO HAVE MORE POWER THAN YOU NEED THAN NOT ENOUGH YOU CAN ALWAYS TURN THE GAIN ON YOUR ANP DOWN KEEP IT RUNNING AT BOUT 75% OF POWER WITH SETTINGS ON DECK AS CLOSE TO ZERO AS POSSIBLE THIS WILL GIVE MAX PERFOMANCE WITH CLEAREST SOUND

    _______
    + ------------------- +\ /+ ON THE SPEAKER POSITIVE
    2 CH.AMP - __ _ \___/ _ TO POSITIVE AND NEG. TO
    + ----------------/ NEG.THEN OUT TO AMP YOUR
