Hi there, I am a total newbie at this and just got my burner today (an Nec 2500). For my first attempt at making a movie backup I chose Pirates of the Caribbean. After reading the brill forums here I decided to use Dvd decrypter, then DVD2one and finally Nero 6 Ultra to burn it. Each stage seemed to go well with no errors at all. However on playing the movie back on either of my Pc dvd drives it gets to chapter 13 (out of 17) and it gives me error code 89020003, disc may be damaged as to inhibit playback, this occurs if I try to access any of the chapters 13-17. I decided to try another burn at x2 instead of x4 but with the same result. I then tried it on my standalone drive (an old Pioneer) and it seems to play fine. I then tried playing the Vob? files direct from the DVD and that plays fine as well, I tried changing my Asus dvd playing software to Powerdvd but no change. The discs themselves are fine, no scratches or marks. Can anyone suggest why they won't play all the way on my Pc? Check out the PowerDVD changelog here. Note that an update of this program was to correct this specific error code 89020003: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/version_history/powerdvd.cfm That would be a good place to start. I don't know what version of PowerDVD you are using. It looks like everything else is working for you other than that. _X_X_X_X_X_[small]motorcycle racer computer newbie Sony VAIO Suzuki GSXR1000 [/small]
Cheers fasfrank, Tried patching Powerdvd (had V4)but it didn't seem to like updating, finally seemed to do it but with same results, so I tried the free trial version of Ulead dvd player and it works fine, hurrah! I wonder if the Asus player software is also made by Cyberlink? Anyway happy now! Thanks again for swift reply. Alan.
