Hi there, I have a Dell inspiron 6000 which i have had to recently instal a new hard drive in, upon uploading windows etc. to the machine - the cd/dvd drive was just whirring and not booting the disk, until i used a DVD of windows vista which booted first time no probs. When windows was loaded i tried to upload microsoft office, and other cds (tried 9 in total) all of which work in my other laptop, but not this all i got was a whirred and scraping sound from the cd/dvd drive (SONT DVD+-RW DW-D56A ATA). However when i tried a dvd in the drive it worked without any problems. After forking out for my new hardrive i don't really wanna have to spend again buying new cd/dvd drive, and hope there is a fix to this. Can anyone help. PS i'm new!!!
