I've been backing up data, and it turns out I've been burning on CMC Magnetics CDs, from TDK. Now I'm getting scared about my data vanishing at any second now! Anyway, I decided to check these Memorex "music" CD-Rs, and they turned out to be Taiyo Yudens. I'm not totally sure if my CD drive is reading these correctly though. Here's the info from Feurio!: Manufacturer of CD-R: Taiyo Yuden Company Limited (Type 1) They're the darker type of dye... So, I was wondering if these would be reliable at all? They're a little expensive, but the local store seems to have a lot of these, and I won't mind the cost if they are good media. Also, despite the media being cyanine, would they still be safe burns at say, 16 or 24x?
Well, I guess the thing I'm worried about most is the longevity of the data I'll be burning on these TYs. Can I expect them to last long? 5, 10, 20, 50 years?
