Hi all, Appreciate anyone could give me some ideas on how to solve this problem. My 44x cd-rom drive was working fine before. But it stopped working all of a sudden after I renew a new motherbaord nforce3 MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum and AMD64 Processor. The windows XP with Service pack 2 detected the CDROM and the device manager says everything is OK but it just could not read anything inserted and telling me I should "insert a disk" I thought it was caused by service pack 2 but when i Uninstalled it, it is still the same. The CDROM is connected to a Secondary IDE (slave) with the primary connecting to my DVD CDRW. My specs is as follow : MSI K8N Neo 2 Platimum 1GB cosair Ram Seagate 160GB Sata HDD Seagate 40GB (Master IDE) DVD CDRW (Secondary Master) CDROM (Secondary Slave) Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS Many Thanks
Maybe try a ide config swap, your new board mightnt like the current setup. Try your HDD all alone on IDE 1, then run your CD-ROM as IDE 2 master and DVD as IDE 2 Slave. Or run your CD-ROM as a a slave on IDE 1, just jumble around. I had to do that with mine to get my board to accept my DVD-ROM.
