hi guys need help here . about a week ago i went to clean out my friends computer with webroot . after all that it had about 14 trojan horses. cleaned it out and thats all i know. now my friend says that his cd-rom or dvd-rom doesnt want to work and does not read any discs... anyone knows what happened??? please help thanks
Make sure that the drive is showing in Device Manager...if there is an error code, post it here. Also, make sure that his ASPI isn't corrupt.
Right click "My Computer" go to properties, then Device Manager. Expand IDE drives and look for error code in the troubleshooting message box or even some Yellow !'s or ?'s.
You have a conflict with your hardware... http://support.microsoft.com/kb/133240/ Proceed at your own risk, this link will tell you how to delete conflicts within your registry...using regedit is very risky. http://support.packardbell.com/uk/item/index.php?i=topic_02125&ppn=pb46c00101 Is there an error code given? This could pinpoint the problem.
all i know that it has a code 41 . i mean is there anyway for this problem to be easier resolved? i mean i tried to look for update driver to hp dvd writer 300c hardware install. man this sucks.. but i do appreciate your time thanks.
This is the information and resolution page for Code 41, follow the step explicilty and it should be a breeze. I'm glad you posted the exact code so you aren't going into the registry blindly. I've performed this task...just double check each step with what you are doing before executing the action. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/314060/
