Hi all, My problem is this: I want to upgrade from windows 98se to windows xp pro. I insert the disc in my lite-on cdrw model #ltr 48246s drive, but it is not recognized! I have had no problems with this drive and it runs all other cd's including my windows 98 cd. I have another cdr, but I do not use it because I sometimes get read errors when running on it. I install all programs with the cdrw. I thought that maybe the cd was bad or dirty so I returned it for a new one but, I still have the same problem! Am I overlooking something? Thanx, tazman
is the problem with booting off the xp or windows seeing the info off the cd? try a cd/dvd disk cleaner to clean the laser lens.
The problem is when I insert the cd and go into "my computer" the disk is not showing up on my cdrom drive. When I click on the cdrom it say's "not accessible" like there is nothing in the drive. I have used a cleaner on the drive, it runs all my other cd's fine! Thanx, tazman
I haven't run into any problems running other cd's. The xp cd is the original halographic cd with coa and number.
try reseating both the data & power cables to the drive & to the motherboard. is the drive on the primary ide or secondary ide ports. what other drive is with the cdrw?? what is the cdrw jumpered as master slave or cable select?? can you burn yourself a copy of the xp cd as it appears that the xp cd is the only disk causing you a problem
