I'm frustrated. I replaced my slow old CDR drive which used Adaptec software with a new Liteon 52X unit using Nero Burning Rom and I'm getting skipping in all my copies no matter the copy speed and whether or not I copy straight to the disc or download to my hard drive first. This is just very simple CD copying. The unit is installed as a slave to my original CDROM. I get the message that the copy is sucessful, but all the copies are bad.

    Thanks for any suggestions.

Could it be that the CD you're trying to backup is a protected one? Goes it all well with audio CDs or CDs you've already backupped, maybe?
I don't know your CD, but you could try using ClonyXXL (http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_software/cdr_tools/clonyxxl.cfm) to scan it (remember: even audio CDs can have a very boring protection, which is Cactus Data Shield; only with EAC you can backup them).
Perform the scan and tell me.

Slow down your burn, change media and uninstall Roxio product! Try burnatonce (freebie) or Nero and be sure you don't have any ASPI layer conflicts. I like ASPI 4.6 :)

I have slowed the burn to 4X, uninstalled Roxio using the Roxio tools and am using Nero--that leaves trying different media or giving up and installing a different unit.
