Does anybody have any certain makes of DVD+R's that they think work well? I had a CD burner for a while and found my DVD player would read some brands of CD-Rs and not others. I want to back-up some DVD movies to be able to play on a Playstation 2. Also, the tutorial on burning DVD's talked about DVD-5 and DVD-9 and I've searched thru the forum and found people talking about different compressing programs. Can you not buy DVD-9's to burn? If the movie is a DVD-9 do you have to compress it?

You can't buy DVD-9s. You would have to either compress it, re-encode it, or split it to fit on a DVD-5. It's a pain, but that's the challenge!

Compression will be your best bet though, use DVD shrink to do it with. Get a user guide for it in the user guides section of the website in my signature.
