I'm not sure where to post this so I'll try in the Authoring area.

My brother just got a video iPod and was wondering if I'm able to add a few movies on it for him.

I have a few in the DVD .vob format and a few in .bin/.cue format.

I don't think iPod will play these AS IS so can I reformat them? If so, how?
Someone told me they thought iPods played MP4.......... I have no clue about this.

yup they do and they also play H264(apple's encoding) here are some guides:

i can tell you fome personal experience that videora does just fine with both cartoons and natural (real life i guess) videos and its fast ...if i remember correctly it took 30 mins for a 90 min movie ive only dont one movie, i mostly have music videos on mine now
..i dunt really know how it compares to anything else on quality ...but the screen is so small that it looks crystal clear ...if you plan on using it the a/v output to a tv it has settings for that too ...but then quality may becaom an issue
