My Grandson in Tahiti has an Xbox that is region 2 and cannot play the DVDs that I send down to him from the United States. Is there any way to change regions to play the movies that I am sending there. I understand that their Xbox is Pal but don't know if that difference is reflected in the DVD itself... But unless it can be changed to a Region 1 they will have to stick with an american unit to play the disks.... Any help on either a firmware mod or the chip mod would be great.. The regional code for the DVD Playback kit is set when you plug it into your Xbox console. If you mod the XBox you can use DVDX2 to play the movies without the DVD Playback kit. RustyDog
Alternatively you could simply patch the microsoft dashboard to allow you to play all region dvds. You don't need to chang the way xbox displays vidoe (PAL or NTSC) because xbox does the video conversion on the fly. Go to www.xbox-scene.com and find you cd
