First off, a bin file is just a special type of archive (similar to a zip file) that's used for CD or DVD images. If there are problems it's with the files contained in the archive, and in order to make any changes to it you'd need to start by extracting those files to your hard drive (which you could easily do by mounting the bin file to a virtual drive and then the files to your hard drive), but I doubt that's where your problem is coming from.

It sounds like you're using a player that isn't paying any attention to the aspect ratio of the video. I'm not familiar enough with VLC to know what kind of settings you may need to change, but if you can set it to Widescreen that should solve the problem.
