I have a Starview 1 and had to do a Factory Rescan today. I ha\ve been unable to get ITV4 and More 4 back and have tried several times. This is not the first time this has happened. The other problem I sometimes get is Sky Sports 2 and Sky 1 and Sky 2 missing. What is the easiest way to retrieve stations that share the same frequency and how does one discover what the frequency is?
To discover what Frequency your programme/s are broadcast on just press the SL button above Exit and it will show on screen, press again to remove it - The best way to retrieve stations that share the same frquency is as follows >>>> From one of your affected channels just Press Menu and OK on Installation, go down to Manual Scan and OK, in Down Frequency it will show the Frequency of the programme you came from - just press OK and it will scan on that frequency when finished it will show you what/how many programmes where found, exit back to TV and job done, but you will have to reorder your channels in Channel Edit and delete the non working ones. Also you can manually input the frequency into Down Frequency if you know what it is - Menu -Installation OK - Select Manual Scan OK - just enter the Frequency you require via the remote keypad, for example 475.000 MHz you would enter 475000 direct and the dot appears automatically - now press OK and it will scan that frequency only, again you will have to reorder your Channel List and delete any non working ones.
Thanks Malci. But what happens if ALL the stations on a frequency have disappeared? That is what seems to happen after I do a Factory Reset with More 4 and ITV4 which share a frequency (but I don't know what it is) and Sky Sports 2 plus Sky 1 and Sky 2 which also share the same frequency but where I DO know the frequency as they came back after a 3rd Factory Rescan. Is there any way of retrieving a station by putting in the name rather than the frequency?
Afraid not, that can't be done you need to know the Frequency of the channel to Manual Scan and not the name, so maybe you would be better to note down the frequencies of your favourite channels. Edit:- All your channels should come back after doing a Factory Re-Set and a Fresh Installation, you must do one before a rescan, and if you are missing any after that it may be a TP issue locally that's all.
Thanks, Malci. Do the frequencies always remain the same, ie Should I note them ALL down now in case it happens again? And why did so many people have difficulties today?
No not essential but it is nice to know the Frequencies of your odd favourites if you ever want to do a manual scan on a particular frequency but a Factory re-set and fresh Installation will always work.
my mate has the same box as you,it happens to his box aswell, the best thing to do is flick threw all ur channels and ull sometimes find sky sports 2 sky 1 etc in one of the channels that dosnt have any name like tv 1789 etc just edit the name of the channel and your sorted.
