As the title suggests, I'm building a cheap gaming desktop for a friend. I'm fairly new to PC building, but not PCs by any means. I was wanting some advice on the rig I have setup here. I was looking for cost-effective, yet somewhat powerful (who isn't). But this is what I was thinking:

    Motherboard - Gigabyte GA-880GMA-UD2H (rev. 2.2)
    Processor - AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4GHz Quad-Core
    RAM - Mushkin Enhanced Blackline 4GB (2 x 2GB) SDRAM DDR3
    GPU - Radeon HD 6870 1GB GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16

The total price for these four items will be around $565. GTG? Advice? Thanks in advance.

    64 bit windows 7

I'm retarded. I should have reviewed everything. That RAM won't work with that motherboard... obviously.

    Change RAM out for this:

    Corsair PC3-10600 DDR3 SDRAM (2 x 2GB)

my first thought is mebbe you should use full atx. better expandability. take a look at the GIGABYTE GA-880GA-UD3H, and see if it fits your needs.

Well, the functionality of that mobo would work, but the form factor has to be uatx due to the case.
