I am looking to build a cheap computer for basically web browsing and viewing videos...Youtube and so on. It is not for me. It is for my brother in law and the computer he is using now is about to leave the house. I want the cheapest and most reliable build I can get for just doing this. No reason to run any high end games or anything on it, just videos as stated, mostly youtube. Can someone point me in the right direction for parts and such for this? I would like to keep it under 200 dollars if possible.
Very roughly speaking, you can probably look at - dual core processor - 2gb ram minimum - a standalone graphics card For that price point.
Sorry to not be more help specifically. Look at newegg.com for parts if you're US/CA. Maybe you can get an intel i3 processor on your budget (i'm not sure, but have a look). RAM spec, you want to look at 1333/1600mhz. HDD look for 7200rpm ideally, even if it's a smaller drive (doesn't sound like he'll require much storage). Just make sure the motherboard supports your CPU of choice (if you're stuck, link your part choices here and I'll have a look over to check). GPU doesn't have to be fancy, look to spend 40 dollars or so and it'll probably be outdoing any onboard graphics you get. Power supply doesn't need to be more than 500W.
whole new tower for $200, don't think so. might be able to get a bare bones system for less then that but won't have drives in it & maybe ram.
This seems to be close to my range. How does this look for what I want it for? I know no OS comes with it but I have one.
