Was wondering if anyone knows of a good easy way to clean the dvd player in xbox, i have two xbox's , one is hard chipped with xecuter 2.6 and the other is softmodded evox dashboard, i have two games, superman returns and nfs carbon which work fine on the softmod but not the hard chipped so i am thinking its got to be either the dvd is very dirty or just on its way out! also, just wondering, can you put any old dvd player in an xbox or does it have to be the brand that comes with xbox's? thanks!
well, that hard way would be to take it apart to get to the laser in the drive and clean it with some rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab then there are DVD drive laser lens cleaning discs you can buy. Many people do not like these as they say it could scratch the laser. Personally i am not sure if it would or would not.
Lens cleaning discs WILL kill your Xbox laser! Compressed air is the only thing you should need to clean a drive! After that, a pot tweak is the answer!!!
