hi everyone! i have an NEC DVD RW drive and would be grateful if i could have some of your valuable knowledge? i have read that using a DVD cleaning disc is not recommeded for the drives used in computers as the brush on the disc can damage the lens? i have used one of these cleaning discs on my LG DVD recorder without any problems, but i am wary of using it for the DVD RW in my pc, which i would like to clean. any help would be appreciated. thanks to all.
Phillips is the brand of lens cleaner I use. It gets used once every few months, and has caused no obvious damage to date. Keep away from the "El cheapo's" and surely you can't go wrong. The usage life of the cleaner is limited, (how do you clean the cleaner?) mine is coming up to it's third or fourth birthday, and so is earmarked for the trash bin.
