Can clonedvd shrink the dvd to 4.7 GB like dvd shrink or 1 clink dvd. Also will it play well with windows 64? thanks jjsscram
Here is a good software compatability guide. http://www.3dvelocity.com/articles/win64compatibility/win64softlist.htm Works fine for me on my 64 machine, and yes it will easliy compress a DVD-9 to DVD-5 for you will good quality. You may also want to look at Nero recode as this has been written to take advantage of 64 bit processing, Idon't think CloneDVD has, but not sure on that last bit.
Since this is a CloneDVD topic, I thought I'd post my question here: Last week, I finally tried compressing a DVD with CloneDVD. The compression was 74%. When I looked at the backup, it was horrible. Even on a 20 inch it looks like crap!!! I did the same movie before using DVD Shrink, but with all features and at about 55% compression and it looked better. What I am talking about the the actual video quality. There was lots pixelation (motion artifacts) on every second of the movie, even on parts with barely any motion. With the DVD Shrink version, there is only pixelation on the Very High motion scenes and very little elsewhere. A lot of people have been saying that CloneDVD is better than DVD Shrink, but based on what I saw it is not. Are there some options that I can change to make the quality better? For this movie I used Ritek R03 DVD+R 8x burned at 4x (I did not use a Taiyo Yuden because it was more of a test for CloneDVD). I also burned this the same way that I do all my backups. I let the compression program do its thing while I watch a movie and then burn the movie image with DVD Decrypter later on. I do not have any other programs running and all I have in the background aside from the windows dirvers are my AntiVirus & Firewall using up a combined 35MB of RAM and 0% CPU since I wait until my system is fully booted before doing a backup.
I'm a loyal slysoft fan and prefer clonedvd over the shrink method. Don't look at the compression rate, look at the quality rate which should be on the next screen after selecting what video titles you want to include. Generally, anything above 60 percent is good quality. If it falls below 60 percent, I'll either remove more unneeded stuff or go with the shrink method and try to super compress the movie, but I hate doing it that way because it seems to take forever and a day. JaguarGod, Not sure what issues your having but in my use cloneDVD is far supieror then shrink with compression, Watching on my large plasma down to my smaller tvs I have no problems with quality at all! Maybe try removing extra languages if you havnt already? Remove a few of these uneeded things and watch a sharp jump in compression quality.
JaguarGod ,yes same with me clonedvd 2 quality comes out much better for me ,try encoding and burning with clonedvd 2 instead of using dvd decrypter ,let us know
same here always had good quality with Clone Dvd never let me down yet i use the Elaborate Bytes version not the sly soft /// 2.8.5.1 i think it is my clone version..... merry Xmas to all......
I have only had good luck with CloneDVD2 as well. I have used it both ways as well, from the disc, and from files on the hd. Satisfied.
@aabbccdd, I will try as you suggested, but I have no backups to do for now. @AIM2Shame, When I tested it, I did as you said. No extras only the Dolby 2.0 english audio. I beleive both the Compression and the quality were about the same (in the mid 70s). I remember two blue bars with a Triangle on one screen. The triangle was within the Blue bars and also in the Green area of quality.
All the same here too with Anydvd and Clonedvd, Great picture quality. Rarely use 321 studios anymore since getting the combo of anydvd and clonedvd.. need nothing more than that..
I am having a problem with CloneDVD2 - I used the trial version and the copied DVD can not play on all DVD players. Any suggestions.
use better media (Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim) burn at a slower speed 4x max. if your using dvd+r booktype to dvd-rom or use dvd -r instead of the dvd+r ,its NOT the program
I've been using Memorex DVD + and - I have to check when I get home what the specific movie that is having the Error was burned onto.
