I Have Clonedvd2 and Anydvd as my DVD burning software. I have had them for about 3 years and they work awesome. this is the 2nd computer I have had it all installed on. all of a sudden about a few months ago clonedvd2 takes 3 hours to rip the dvd and about 1 hour to burn it. before it only took about 45 minutes for everything. my system is as follows: P4 3.0 Ghz 512 MB DDR 160 GB SATA HD Win XP Pro Philips DVD8461 DVD+RW Anydvd Version 6.0.8.2 Clonedvd2 Version 2.9.0.1 I have made sure that I am running my DVD drive on UMDA instead of PIO. actually it was running on PIO but I changed IDE channels and now it is running on UMDA just fine. still it is slow. My DVD drive is set to master. Windows is a fresh WIN XP PRO install so there is no adaware or viruses. I just uninstalled EZCD/DVD creator 8 and Alcohol 120% thinking they might be conflicting, still with no luck. which before it was fine with them installed. I have the latest firmware installed on my DVD burner, which was what the burner came with. I had this burner on my old computer and had this very same problem once, and in that case I removed McAfee Security Center, the problem went away, so I removed all McAfee software on this computer and still with no luck. I have used a lens disk cleaner thinking the laser might be dirty, still no help. When I burn regular CD's and DVD's with Roxio or Alcohol, they burn at regular speeds, so I am at a loss of what is the problem. any help would be greatly appreciated
I just went through this a month or so back an Clone DVD2 was the only slow one Nero recode and everything else was fast as usual switched drives uninstalled reinstalled rams software , XP, switched ram , went through the Bios more times than I can count Cheked for Viruses spyware ran hi jac this everything clean and green. the other 2 Comps had no problems and there all pretty much set up Identical.I finally rma'd the mother board and it came came back to normal.I still don't know why just that the switch of the MOBO took care of it. I'm interested to see what you find out because it still bothers me why switching the MOBO would take care of it. Does Clone use it's own path way or what. Chris Edit heres my link on it. http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/418906
Chris- thanks for the info, unfortunately I dont have that option to change motherboads. my other computer doesnt support this processor. actually my other computer is only a 1.7 p4 and it burns dvd's faster! LOL I did set my DVD burner to UMDA from PIO and switched it to IDE2 instead of IDE1. it did bring my complete burn time down to 2 hours, but that still isnt quite right! anyone else have any input?
i dont have a solution but whats your cpu usuage when you are copying/burning? ctrl+alt+ delete also while you pull up that windows task manager how many process are going?
I didn't mean for you to change MOBO I was letting on what I ended up doing. I still can't believe it was the Mobo. I stopped all processes on mine and Cpu usage was real low and ram usage was low I'm not trying to hijack your thread I want you to find out for our benefit. I'm done talking and just gonna sit back and hope somebody has a solution. Chris
See the other thread ireland just answered thats exactly what my other comp was doing Link http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/428770 Chris
Chris, NO! I am glad to hear your input!! it may just come down to me switching the MOBO in the future, but I cant afford one with Xmas and all right now. I was hoping someone might have a settings tweak or some other fix along the way. As for Updates, it isnt the Anydvd version! just updated it and it is still slow. besides it has been doing this for the last 15 or more anydvd updates and 2 seperate updates for clonedvd.
