Hi, I have an audio CD that will not play on a PC or MAC due to an encryption.

"Having purchased the CD I wish to play it on my laptop at work through headphones"

How can I rip this CD - I have downloaded ClonyXX1 to try and identify teh encryption but have not sussed how it works.

My german has improved though! (joke)

Any help out there for an aged luddite?

I think that it is the CD that is so well encrypted that not even clony can identify the protection!

I have the exact same problem. I downloaded this program expecting it to be in english and i got this german crap. You would expect them to make an english version as there are more of us than them. Anyway if some one has an idea plese reply.

    Or simply use A-ray scanner.
Much newer (and still being updated) product.
ClonyXXL is dead and always will be.

Ok first things first. Download a free program called EAC (Exact Audio Copy) and lets see if your hardware can rip this audio cd to your hd.
    EAC:http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/
    EAC guide: http://home-12.tiscali-business.nl/~tpm54044/

You'll need Lame MP3 encoder me. Google up, it's free :)

    Pasted from a website :

Summary of Sony's new set of non-"Red Book" audio CD releases
There have been a number of UK releases recently from Sony-owned companies (including Epic and Columbia) that have followed the same pattern. The CDs are in a non-"Red Book" format (i.e. they are not fully standard-conforming audio CDs), and they have problems playing on computers and some other devices. The CDs also include brief warning messages printed on the packaging to the effect of "Will not play on Mac / PC". We believe that the corruption format is Key2Audio.

    CDs in this category include:

"A New Day Has Come" by Celine Dion
    "Star Wars Episode 2" soundtrack
    "Spiderman" soundtrack
    "Laundry Service" by Shakira
"Green Eyed Soul" by Sarah Connor
"J To Tha L-O: The Remixes!" by Jennifer Lopez
"This is the Remix" by Destiny's Child
"MTV Unplugged 2.0" by Lauryn Hill
"Heart To Yours" by Michelle Williams
    "Flickering Flame" by Roger Waters
    "Celtica" by various artists
    "Masquerade" by Wyclef Jean
"The Osbourne Family Album" by various artists
"Live at Budokan" by Ozzy Osbourne
    "Incredible" by Mary Mary
"Oh yeah! Ultimate Hits" by AeroSmith
    "Dance X-plosion" by various artists
    "Northern Light" by Covenant
Flickering Flame is Key2Audio cd protected, not sure what version.

    Hey!!!!

Have downloaded Alcohol 120% and tried it out using the encrypted CD!

    Guess what?

    It rips!

You copy the image and then choose what format to burn it to CD.

The product is an encryption free CD

    Chuffed :)

Congrats Dizwald :), however, the correct way to rip& burn a cd is using a great audio program like EAC or Easy CD DA Extractor. :)

add one more to that list. Joss Stone-mind, body & soul. it will not rip well with eac. shows up error after error and a long time to do one track. when ripped after abot 45 mins (track 1) in mp3 format the track has lots of clicks and pops. other tracks show diferent levels of poor quality. a120 will copy the cd but as soon as you rip to mp3 the same happens and the standalone cd copy has the same interference. any help would be gratfully accepted

You need a drive that will rip audio cd protection m8. I highly recommend the Plextor Premium (52\3252x) for ripping audio cdprotection, backing up pc protection as well. This drive is by far the "king of all cd burners"!
