I have backed up almost my entire DVD collection close to 300 DVDS, i had a "coaster" maybe twice. Now I get maybe 2 good ones! I am using a khypermedia DVD+RW drive, XP, DVD Shrink with Nero. I am using Memorex DVD+R media(Always have until I came here did not know they were considered crap) It was suggested that i needed to update to newest DVDSHRINK and newest Nero, which I have. i still could not get a useable disc so I in complete desperation reformated my entire HD! Still to no avail! I have gotten 3 backups that were good since I did these things, however once again i have now gotten 4 bad ones. I have 2 that my pc won't play but my DVD player will. What's up with that? Also is DVDROM book type in Shrink supposed to be checked or no? (I can't remember) Thanks in advance if you can help.
1. memorex +r are still pretty good (the -r are the ones that use crappy dye). 2. Khypermedia media sucks ass, so i would assume that their burners do to. So, i would have to say that your drive is the problem. Did you look for updated firmware for it?
my problem is i have Burned maybe 30 dvds without failure with 4 diff kinds and brands of media dvd +R -r and dvd-rw's. i have a nec dv 2500a,, and now thru Nero which was ver 6.028 now upgraded 6.3 i get a power calibration error right as it starts burning !! nothing has been changed except upgrade Nero but does same thing!! burned a cd so i think the drive works ?????????
I thought it was the drive also, however I got it to burn on a RW just fine. and I can still burn cd's and regular data. I'm trying to use decryptor to burn now and see what happens.
