What does everyone recommend as a good combo of software to backup my movies? I was using Nero 6 and AnyDVD on my XP machine but this has not been working on Vista. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
when i had vista on two of my pcs i used dvdfabhddecrypter and nero7 (recode). i switched back to xp because vista doesnt allow protection at the kernel level, so i couldnt run peerguadian.
On my Vista PC i run anydvd + dvd shrink + nero 7 works great. I also use dvdfab gold and oneclick dvd copy 5 also works great. Nero 6 has some issues with vista. Are u running vista ultmate?
I also have issues burning with vista. I have vista home premium and sisnce I got this dell computer I haven't been able to burn succesfully a movie. For example I have an ISO image of a movie that just need to be burn into a disc. When I do it using a software like Roxio Creator or imgburn or 1 click DVD copy pro the copy works ok in the computer, but it doesn't play in my stand alone DVD player. It say disc prohibit to play. When I burn the same image using a mac it plays fine in the dvd player. I use the same image and the same dvd media. Any idea also what software is good to get ride off the copy protection?
Well "Imacreep" if ur burning an ISO image seems u have already got around the CCS on the dvd. But i have vista and i use anydvd which gets the copyright off of the dvd and dvd shrink and nero 7 to burn with. When using these programs u should have no trouble. Thats if ur burning dvd to dvd. Now if ur burning from an avi, wma, mov, ext. then there are settings under format that u can select like PAL, NTSC which can make a big difference. What kinda dvd's are u using? What kind of burner do u have? What speed are u writing at? and what kinda of stand alone dvd player are u using?? Have u tried using the dvd in another dvd player besides ur own?
Thanks for the advise. First I have to say that I have a Mac and I can burn any movie image or folder without problem, no matter what kind of disc media I use. I got this PC because at that time my mac wasn't working and it is a little old. I tried to get a good system with enoguh hard drive, good ram and a dvd burner combo. Also because there are more variety of programs to rip dvds and all that. Mac have few and haven't been updated for a while. However having a system like this I tough I would not have any trouble and good enoguh to fill my needs. I don't burn avi, mov or any of those formats. I have been using TDK with the mac without a problem, but I have also tried verbatim, and maxel with this computer and they get ruined.I have a combo burner that supoused to burn all formats I think is an LG OR LITE ON: HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GSA-H31N B 109 (ATAPI, I burn to slow speed 2x 4x always half or less the speed that the disk says. I ihave a samsung home teather system, a xbox, a playstation, a lite on, and an old toshiba. Same thing happen the discs don't play. It really makes me regret to buy this computer but I needed a computer at that time. Any advise would be appreciate it. Thanks you.
@Imacreep If u are just burning ISO files then try imgburn. Its free just google it. Works great and nero works great as well. Shouldn't have any problems burning with imgburn. Download and if u cant get it ill give u a step by step walk through. Now if ur burning movies from the original copys th u ould have to use programs that would get by the CCS.DvdFabb has all of this built in. Just click strt and thats it. Im running vista as well and any program im telling u about i use myself. anydvd, dvd shrik/ anydvd, one click dvd are some othr good combos. But dvdfabb is ur best bet if ur burning from original movies and new to burning.
