Those who have this one please give advice on it.

I am running on xp pro sp2

    thanks

    Hi robinb99
I am currently using that version and have burned approx. 25 dvd's with it using Recode, Burning Rom, Express without problems.

For vision I have only done 2 and they were just pal to ntsc conversion - no .avi's yet.

Mostly I'm just using the default settings.

I still have the problem of poor mp3 audio conversions. For some this version may have fixed that.

Do you mean your using 7.0.8.2? What problems are you having with that version? Which app do you mainly use in Nero

Binki7 and robinb99, I would be very curious to hear what your experience is with this latest version. I read in a different thread here [which I can't find now] that Gwedolin will be trying this version also. I am mainly interested in how it does with avi's, specifically tv show avi to dvd conversion. I am currently having trouble with the a/v out of sync problem using nero vision 4.5 which comes with nero 7.0.8.2, and I'm actually thinking of dumping Nero altogether. I can't wait to hear your results.

I plan to do some .avi's in the next few days and will post my results - good, bad or otherwise. Gwen will do the .avi's sooner than me.
But I doubt the .avis I do will be TV shows. Maybe Gwen will be doing some TV shows.
Is this the audio sync issue w/ Nero not handling the pause with the ads bit or something along those lines?

Binkie7, yes, the audio goes out of sync with the video almost immediately, and seems to get worse the farther into the program you go [perhaps it does coincide with where the commercials are edited out].

I'll be watching closely to see what your and Gwendolin's results are, as I need to switch programs soon. I was thinking of trying ConvertXtoDVD, but maybe I'll hold off to see what your results are here. This sitting idly getting nothing done on my computer is making me crazy! LOL

Here's a thought if your interested.
If you have some of those tv .avi's files still that Nero gives you this problem on - upload them (can use something like yousendit.com or rapidshare)and pm me a link.
I can play w/ them in the new version and give you a verdict.

Well I took the leap, tried 7.2.3.2b with 3 AVI movies that I have successfully burned using 7.0.8.2 and here are the results.
Movie 1.....Unbelieveably loud clicking sounds throughout the WHOLE movie ( same on 3 DVD players)

Movie2. Although only a little under 4Gb after conversion, message saying it would NOT fit onto disc, also only recognizes 512meg RAM whereas I have 1024Meg and useage 98%

    Movie3. Same result...not enough room on disc...once again a 2 hour movie.

    [bold]All 3 movies successfully burned with 7.0.8.2[/bold]

my problem is i cannot get cdrw's and dvdrw's to verify after burning. I orginally had 7.0.1.3 then Gwendelyn told me to try 7.0.8.2 which i did. It seems faster to load but i thought the problem with verifying was fixed because i tried it with one cdrw but when i wanted to add more files to this and checked "verify" i got the same read error I got in the first 7 version. Also i find with this version it will not allow me to put .zip files in to burn.

the program will verify cdr's and dvdr's but not w's

I used this in both Nero Express and Nero Burning rom. I mostly use Nero Express only because it is quicker and easier.

I did not want to try the newer version untl i had some opinions on it. I have it saved on my HD till i get some opinions here.

binkie, thanks so much for the offer, but I think after Gwendolin's report I wouldn't waste your time. If the newest Nero is now having yet another set of problems, I don't even want it. I'm off to finish my investigation of ConvertXtoDVD. Thanks for posting your results. :)

Personally, at the rate the Nero 7 updates are going, and reading gwen's results I think I will wait for Nero 8 to upgrade :)

Edit: Does anyone think the out of sync audio in NVE and also in the CD burns are connected?

    Okay here's my update:
Did an avi anime for my daughter - didn't get the message that gwen did.
Played the source .avi - audio a little off in places. The transcoded & burned w/ vision w/o a hitch.
My daughter watched it said audio was still a little off but did not get worse.

Then I remembered that the default audio setting for this version was LPCM which I had switched to automatic (it's usually set to automatic). This is the only default setting I have changed so far.
Ran the same file again but switched audio to LPCM - then I was able to reproduce the error Gwen rec'd - not enuf space on disc. This may also be the reason for the 'clicking sounds' Gwen rec'd. Don't know - may not be- but I'll probably take that same file & burn it w/ the LPCM audio option later today to see.
Gwen did you switch the default audio setting from LPCM to automatic?

So now I'm dl another one that I'll watch (instead of relying on my kid). But it is not a TV series.
I'll report back on that one.

Used Recode a few more times and again no encoding or burning issues.
No slowness on my end - takes about the same time as 6.6.0.18.

    @robinb99
In this version I was able to add zip files and all types when doing a data dvd or cd. For this test I used cd & dvd rw discs only and was able to verify them. Then go back and add more files and verify again.
When you say you get a read error in the verification part that may also be due to the brand of discs your using.

    @arniebear
May be depending I guess on the audio type used. If it's mp3 - that could be it.
Now for Nero 8 - that may be a long time coming!!
I'm not having any issues yet - I'll do a few more .avi over the next few days - that seems to be where most problems are. There can be alot of variables using Vision.
Some thing's seem faster - like Vision to me at least.

With 7 though it seems like what version may work for 1 may not for another.

I am a little perplexed with my problem. I just updated and burned several dvds no prob. Then I go to burn some Robot Chicken episodes and the audio is WAY off (4 or 5 secs maybe). So I go and just try to watch the episodes in Nero Showtime...audio is way off, in the "create chapters" menu, ditto. However....when I play them with Divx or Windows Media player the audio is totally synched. Dont understand it.

I dont know if it has anything to do with it being a television series because I have burned every episode of the old "dungeons and Dragons" cartoons and had NO problem.

At this point I think Nero needs to start giving partial refunds (as I stated in another thread). Paying for software that does NOT work is bad enough, but 4 updates later and it STILL wont work is inexcuseable and in my opinion borderline FRAUD.

I had some problems using Nero Vision Uner NERO 7,
Until this version now I have no problems.
I do recommend using the correct nero clean tool
to remove all of the older versions before you update.

The last few were buggy indeed but I have had no issues
with this new update (yet...keeps fingers crossed).

I have the new version installed. I'm getting an error during simulated burns but they are successful at the end.

    Here is the error:
    The results:
I'll probably reinstall 7.0.8.2. I don't get any errors with it doing the same simulation.

i was getting read erro on sony, memorix, tdk, ltd, samsung cdrws & DVDrws, i tried them all. Same manufactures- cdr and dvdr's verify with no problems at all.

I do not know if I should take the plunge and do it on the new version. I use it to make a copy of My documents folder"
Can someone using xp pro sp2 try cdrw's for me and see if they verify?
Please test 2x. Burn it once using Nero express with verification on.
then make a change in a document and reburn it using nero express.
Tell me if it will verify second time.

Use the newest version please and let me know.

    thanks

    Hi robinb99
I use xp sp2 & was able to verify/add to cd rw/ dvd rw in Express as I posted above. I didn't change a doc though.
If you tell me exactly what changes you do I can try it. Give me as much info as possible so I can try and replicate what you are trying to do.
What's the make on model of your burner?

But even if I'm successful that may not be a guarantee that you will be.

I have the optiarc dvd+rw Nd 3570a rom drive

as in verify. When you put the cdrw into burn in nero express and click "verify complition after burning", the first time around it does this fine.
If you add or change a document and put the same cdrw into the drive and click "verify the complition after burning" it comes up with a read error.

Also in a already burned dvdrw- if you put it in the drive a day later it now shows through Nero it is empty. But when you first put it in and auto loads, windows xp shows you the cd has info on it and you can even open it but Nero shows it is empty and when you try to burn it comes back with a bunch of error msgs and says it is the wrong type of media for this drive which is totally ridiculous.

this is what happened when i put in a dvdrw that already has 6.21mbs in it and all I wanted to do is add files to it.
When it first came up it said the drive was empty- it did not collerbrate what was on it and add the new files.
It normally comes up with a box when you ask to burn dvd or crd and adds the new files before it goes to the next window.

I would have to erase the disk and start all over again which is stupid because this has my backup on it already.

Also cdrws yes i know they burn at "4x" but this is very slow on this machine. This is a brand new Dell diminesion 5150 with a pentium D processeor and dual core processing which normally when nero is not running, runs at lightening speed. and you are also suppose to be able to do more than just burn when using this machine.

    This is with a dvdrw

and this is suppose to be with the stabel nero 7

maybe i should revert back to the original 6 I have. I bought this new computer and went out and bought 7 because i felt the technology in the new computer would compliment the new technology in nero 7.

I had problems making music CDs with Nero 7.0.8.2. Some tracks would skip constantly, others would not. I wasted loads of CDs trying to make music CDs. I reverted back to nero 6.6.0.18, burned properly first time! I am annoyed that I wasted so much time & effort on nero 7. I don't use recode, I have never got on with it. I just use CloneDvd2 for dvds now.

I used the Nero vision (in my Nero 7) to burn an AVI to dvd.. it viewed just fine in the regular DVD player.. I just have a lot of trouble getting chapters to display properly (it's only one AVI file, approx 100 mins).. it would scan the chapters automatically, but some of them would not show a pic for the menu screen(so Nero puts in it's logo for the chapter pic- who wants to see that?? I can change the background pic, but not the menu pic)..

i was trying to move the time slider for those particular chapters that wouldn't use a screen shot to try and get a pic - the program gets hung up for a LONG time trying to refresh, and then it still doesn't put in the frame-pic/screenshot for those chapters anyway.. it's a great program for AVI to dvd and easy to use if you're just putting a few files together or don't really care about how chapters will display for one long vid - but I'd really like to not see the Nero logo on my menu screen...

could someone please help me get those chapter menu pics to display right (showing a screenshot where the chapter starts instead of the Nero logo).. again, it only happens to some of the chapters..

Any suggestions Please?? I use Windows XP SP2..

    Thanks much..
