I've had my compaq f700 AMD Athalon 64 X2 TK-57 for almost 3 years now and it just recently started to run hot and over heat. It has one fan that i can see on the top left corner ( not very good air circulation even when propped up ). I have it on a flat surface with the battery out and it 3 inches up off the table, but as soon as i load a facebook ap or a video the fan kicks in to over drive and gets so hot it burns. surfing the web and playing low intense java games such as pogo seem to be ok but nothing over that. My core temp monitor says my temps are 167/161f while typing here 190/185f when loading and running a facebook ap. I'm at a loss as to what to do, anyone have any suggestions as to how to clean it without having to take the whole thing apart. I tried to take the bottom off to get at the fan but it would not come apart. but i did try to vacuum it but my vacuum is not very powerful so I'm not sure how much help it did.
moved to correct forum as not a windows issue. do you have or can borrow an air compressor to give the laptop a good blow job with the air? can also use a can of air to do same thing. which 1 in this link is your laptop? http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/pfinder?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=ca&tool=&query=compaq+f700+#N399
i said moved not move. read this link as it will show you how to take it apart. http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01295900.pdf
thank you for the link, but there has to be an easier way to take the back panel off to get to the fan to dust it out i don't want to have to gut my whole comp.
