I have a Sony DRU-720A i had it for about a year with no problems at all i use the same discs everytime to burn my games on and no problem they are maxell DVD-R now everytime i put my disc in and i can hear it spin and then all of a sudden i hear like a clicking noise so i bought a 3 pack of 3 other different dvds (TDK, Imation, Memorex) because i thought my something might be wrong with my batch but same problem with all of those as well it, will read my cd-r and music cds and my dvd movies but when it comes to blank ones all i hear is clicking i updated my firmware to the most recent from sony and still the same i used my lens cleaner like 5 times on it and i even blew out my comp but still nothing do i have to buy another dvd burner?
Hate to say it, but it sounds like your drive is dying. I just had to replace a drive that started doing that...
