so i just purchased some new games that i need a dvd rom for, ive managed to get by before by dling drivers and installing hardware and taking from flash drive in past but broke down and bought one now. problem is, ive changed the jumpers and ive changed the bios and now it wont boot at all. says select proper boot or insert disc or osmething such as that. any ideas?

ive switched back to old "CD" rom and still works fine, well hd is acting up but after a good kick or two it works fine.

name brand computer or clone? is the dvd drive by itself on the data cable or is there another drive there too? did you jumper the dvd drive the same as the cd drive?

bios setting problem.. it's trying to boot from a device it can't find.

Check the drive is seen by the bios, and that the "boot" page is set to include the drive.. also helps to have "use other boot devices" set to yes.
